What actually happens
A ballet dancer and a $50 million invoice
Six skilled criminals snatch a young ballet dancer named Abigail and drive her to the secluded Wilhelm Manor. Their employer, Lambert, tells them to guard her for 24 hours, after which each of them gets $7 million from a $50 million ransom her father will pay. The crew uses aliases: Joey, a former army medic in recovery from addiction, Frank, a former NYPD detective, Sammy, a hacker, Rickles, a former Marine sniper, Peter, a mob enforcer, and Dean, a driver. Joey did not know Abigail was a child, and she has a son of her own. She promises to protect the girl. Abigail says her father does not care and will never pay, then apologizes to Joey ahead of time for what is coming. Frank confronts her violently and learns that her father is the crime lord Kristof Lazaar, who is powerful enough to be nearly mythical.

A snack run that goes badly
This is the scene people dread most, and it comes early. Dean goes off in search of a snack, gets ambushed, and is decapitated. The group suspects Lazaar's violent enforcer Valdez is in the house, but a security system then locks them in. Then Rickles turns up torn to pieces. The group demands answers from Abigail, and she turns into a vampire. Frank puts a bullet in her head, and the wound heals at once. Frank, Sammy and Peter collect folkloric items meant to hurt vampires, but none of them work, and Abigail overpowers them with her speed and agility. Joey tranquilizes her and cages her, but Abigail bites Sammy first. Abigail turns into a vampire when the group confronts her after Rickles's body is found.
Daddy issues, centuries old
When she wakes up, Abigail, who is centuries old, tells them that Lambert works for her father and that the kidnapping is a trap to get rid of Lazaar's enemies. Joey figures out that Abigail kills for her father because she hopes it will win his love. Abigail gets out of the cage and goes for Frank, but Joey puts her in the sunlight and her hand explodes. With a few hours left before sunset, the group splits up to look for a way out. Sammy turns into a vampire, drinks Peter's blood and kills him, then attacks Frank and Joey, who bounce sunlight off a silver tray and blow her up.
Frank gets a promotion
Lambert draws Joey and Frank into a concealed safe room and reveals that two years ago Abigail made him a vampire to punish him for helping Frank. He turns Frank into a vampire too and proposes that they work together to kill Abigail and Lazaar and take over their empire. Frank instead kills Lambert, beats up Abigail and drinks her blood, which leaves Abigail weak. With no way out, Joey records a voice message for her son, saying she is sorry she has been missing from his life for so many years. Frank, drunk on his new power, says he will turn Joey next and make her kill her son. His bite does not work, because he is too young a vampire to create more of them.
The ending, explained
Abigail teams up with Joey to kill Frank. Abigail then tells Joey to go and be a part of her son's life, but then Lazaar turns up and threatens Joey. Abigail defends her, saying Joey was there for her when Lazaar was not. Her father angrily scolds her, then gives in for Abigail's sake and lets the bloodied, battered Joey leave. Dean, Rickles, Sammy, Peter, Lambert and Frank are dead, and Joey is the only one of the crew to walk out.
