DOG
Dog: fine
fine, no dog dies.
Ruling: It is a jump-scare ghost story, so watch it in a group with the lights on.
Ouija runs 89 minutes and begins with a friend who has already burned her spirit board and learned that it does not stay burned. Her friends then play it themselves, because grief does that to people.
The premise, briefly
After the death of their friend Debbie, her best friend Laine and a few others use Debbie's Ouija board to contact her and find that someone else is answering.

π±CUT TO THE CHASE
How it ends
Doris is the evil one, and she kills Pete and Trevor and sews Sarah's mouth shut. Debbie's ghost helps Laine hold Doris back while the sisters burn Doris's body and the board. The planchette is back at Laine's house at the end.
The scene you're dreading
Near the end, Doris captures Sarah and sews her mouth shut, and Laine then plays the board alone to draw Doris out. It leads straight into the final fight.
The dog
No dog dies in Ouija.
Ouija is mostly cheap jump scares and a ghost story with a twist, and once you know the twist, there is little left to be afraid of.
THE SHORT VERSION IS HIDDEN
How it ends, the scene you're dreading, what happens to the dog, and the bottom line. About twenty seconds to read.
What actually happens
A board that does not burn
Debbie remembers a childhood game of Ouija with Laine, her best friend. In the present day, she throws the board into a fire and tells Laine something strange happened to it. After Laine leaves, the board is back in Debbie's bedroom, and Debbie becomes possessed and hangs herself in her own home. At the wake, Laine, her boyfriend Trevor, her sister Sarah, their friend Isabelle and Debbie's boyfriend Pete decide to use Debbie's board to talk to her. Something slams Pete's hand and face against a mirror, and the phrase "Hi friend" starts showing up in odd spots, including Isabelle's car and Pete's desk.
The friends think Debbie is trying to reach them and hold another session, only to learn that the spirit calls itself DZ. Laine sees a small girl whose mouth has been stitched closed, and the girl warns them to flee because her mother is on her way. Laine learns that Debbie found the board in her attic and played alone. Isabelle is then possessed and killed while she runs a bath. Laine and Pete search the attic, find a box of photos from the previous residents, and learn about a missing girl named Doris Zander. Doris's sister Paulina, now an old woman in a psychiatric hospital, says their mother was a medium who made Doris a channel for the dead, went mad, and sewed Doris's mouth shut, which killed her. Paulina tells Laine to find Doris's hidden body in a secret room and unsew her mouth so Doris can banish their mother. They do. Doris's mother protests, and Doris chases her ghost away, but Pete goes home, is possessed and is killed by Doris.
A furnace for Doris
Laine goes back to Paulina and realizes that Paulina lied. Doris was the evil entity all along, and her mother had been trying to keep the friends from calling her up. The scene people dread most comes near the end: Doris's ghost drowns Trevor and captures Sarah, and Doris sews Sarah's mouth shut. That is the moment to look away from, and it leads straight into the final fight. Laine's grandmother tells the sisters to destroy Doris's body and the board. Laine plays the board alone to get Doris's attention, and Doris begins to possess her. Before Doris can finish, Debbie's ghost shows up and helps Laine fight her off long enough for Laine and Sarah to throw Doris's body and the board into the furnace.
The ending, explained
Laine and Sarah put Doris's remains and the Ouija board in the furnace, and the paranormal activity stops. Debbie's ghost helped Laine keep Doris back while they did it. Trevor, Isabelle, Pete and Debbie are all dead by then. Afterward Laine finds that the planchette has somehow appeared back at her home. She looks through it, and the picture goes black.
